The Punjab government has directed private schools not to charge any additional fees for summer camps, warning that strict action will be taken against institutions violating official instructions.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat issued the directive in a special message addressing concerns raised by parents regarding summer camp charges during the ongoing summer vacation period.
The minister clarified that while private schools are permitted to collect their regular monthly tuition fees, they are not allowed to impose separate charges under the heading of summer camps.
Rana Sikandar Hayat also emphasized that schools cannot compel students to attend summer camps.
According to the minister, participation in such activities must remain voluntary, and parents should not face pressure from school administrations to enroll their children.
The warning comes amid reports that some educational institutions were allegedly seeking additional payments from parents for summer learning programs and vacation activities.
The Punjab government reiterated that schools have not been barred from collecting their standard monthly fees. However, any institution found charging extra fees for summer camps in violation of government orders will face legal and administrative action.
Education authorities are expected to monitor compliance and address complaints from parents regarding unauthorized fee collections.
The directive is aimed at protecting families from additional financial burdens during the summer break while ensuring that private schools comply with provincial education regulations.
