Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has announced the complete removal of customs duty on over 100 types of raw materials used in local medicine production.
The measure, introduced under the National Tariff Policy 2025-30, is specifically aimed at supporting the domestic manufacturing of cancer and other critical disease treatments.
The minister said customs duty on more than 100 categories of raw materials used in producing cancer and other disease medicines will be fully eliminated under this policy.
He said cancer and other serious illnesses place an immense financial and emotional burden not only on patients but also on their families across the country.
The minister added that practical measures to reduce this burden are essential, and the duty removal represents a direct step toward making treatment more affordable locally.
