Meta has introduced a new line of smart glasses that drop the Ray-Ban branding. The glasses arrive at a lower price point to reach more buyers. The new Meta Glasses start at $299, around $80 less than the entry Ray-Ban Meta range.
Meta launched three styles to widen its appeal. The Adventurer and Fury both start at $299. A Starfire Kylie Edition, made with Kylie Jenner, costs $399. That fashion-focused model targets younger, style-conscious customers.
Despite dropping the Ray-Ban name, Meta kept its key partner close. EssilorLuxottica, the eyewear giant behind Ray-Ban and Oakley, still manufactures the glasses. The new models simply carry Meta branding alone for the first time.
Alex Himel, who leads Meta’s wearables division, said affordability drove the shift. He explained the company felt it needed a pair at a lower price. Meta wanted to make the technology accessible to a wider audience.
The new glasses share many features with Meta’s recent models. Each pair packs a 12-megapixel camera and six microphones. Meta added adjustable nose pads with three settings for better comfort. The glasses also support transition, polarized, clear, and prescription lenses.
The Adventurer features slimmer, square frames for everyday wear. The Fury carries a chunkier, bolder frame like earlier Meta glasses. The Kylie edition sports a Y2K-style oval shape designed to sit lower on the nose.
Privacy remains one of Meta’s biggest challenges, though. The glasses keep a recording LED and block recording if that light is covered. Himel said Meta cannot keep a business if people feel uneasy around wearers. He added the company is building privacy standards as the tech spreads.
AI sits at the center of the new lineup. The glasses launch with Muse Spark, Meta’s first Superintelligence Labs model. Features include live translation, navigation, and a smarter photo tool. Competition is rising, with Snap recently launching $2,195 Specs.
