Domino’s has confirmed it will give away pizza worth $1 million after USA forward Folarin Balogun was shown a red card during a FIFA World Cup 2026 match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, triggering a promotional offer the company had promised before the tournament began.
The pizza chain had pledged in May that if any US player received a red card during the tournament, it would distribute free “Emergency Pizza” to fans. Under the offer, more than 60,000 medium-sized pizzas will be handed out.
Balogun scored a goal for the United States before being sent off in the second half of the match. Despite playing a man down, the US team held its lead and secured qualification for the next round.
The free pizza will only be available to fans who registered on Domino’s website and joined its rewards program before June 10, the deadline set ahead of the start of the tournament.
Domino’s said the “Emergency Pizza” campaign was designed to add excitement to major sporting events and offer fans a small reward during unexpected moments in the game.
