Babar Azam has been named captain of Test team, replacing Shan Masood, as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming Test tours of the West Indies and England.
The squad was unveiled during a press conference at Gaddafi Stadium attended by members of the PCB selection committee, including Aqib Javed, Asad Shafiq and Misbah-ul-Haq.
The lineup includes three uncapped players, namely Ali Usman, Mohammad Awais Zafar and pacer Ubaid Shah. Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal have retained their places after impressing on their Test debut during the series against Bangladesh, despite Pakistan suffering a 2-0 whitewash.
Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has regained full fitness, while concerns remain over Saud Shakeel. He has been left out of the West Indies tour and included for the England tour, subject to fitness.
All-rounder Aamer Jamal has returned to the Test squad for the first time since featuring against South Africa in 2025. The pace attack comprises Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Ali, young speedster Ubaid Shah and Khurram Shehzad.
Sajid Khan is the only specialist spinner in the squad, while Salman Ali Agha could provide a backup spin option. The lineup does not include Noman Ali, who was also omitted from Pakistans previous Test tour of Bangladesh.
Pakistan are currently bottom of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 standings after winning one and losing three of their four matches, with four points and a points percentage of 8.33.
The national side will depart for the West Indies on 13 July, where it will play a four-day warm-up match starting on 18 July. The two-match Test series against the West Indies will be played in Trinidad and Tobago, with the first Test from 25 to 29 July and the second from 2 to 6 August.
Following the Caribbean tour, Pakistan will travel to England for a three-match Test series. The opening Test will be held at Headingley in Leeds from 19 to 23 August, followed by the second at Lords from 27 to 31 August. The series will conclude with the third and final Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham from 9 to 13 September.
