The federal government has announced a modest reduction of Rs1.97 per litre in petrol and high-speed diesel prices for the coming week.
According to the latest revision, petrol will now be priced at Rs297.53 per litre, down from Rs299.50, while high-speed diesel (HSD) has been cut from Rs311.47 to Rs309.50 per litre. The new rates will come into effect from July 4.
Although the government has framed the change as a price cut, the relief for consumers remains minimal. For most vehicle owners, the reduction amounts to only a few rupees per litre, offering little respite after months of sustained fuel price pressure.
