Battlefield 6 is gearing up for a massive content drop as Season 4: Pacific Front officially launches this coming Tuesday, July 21. The 1.4.1.0 update goes live at 4:00 AM ET / 1:00 PM PKT. Consequently, the new season officially kicks off four hours later at 8:00 AM ET / 5:00 PM PKT. Players can expect a heavy shift towards naval combat, dynamic water physics, and an entirely new Pacific-themed battleground.
Naval Warfare & a New Arsenal in Battlefield 6 Season 4
The standout addition is the Tsuru Reef map. This sprawling Pacific archipelago forces players to balance land, sea, and air warfare simultaneously. Furthermore, the update introduces a dynamic wave system. This system actively alters visibility and movement across the shoreline.
To navigate these waters, players receive two new vehicles. The RCB-90 Patrol Boat seats two players and dominates coastal engagements. Meanwhile, the 7.7m NSW RHIB arrives straight from REDSEC, bringing a mounted machine gun for fast, four-player squad transport.
Additionally, the armory expands with three new firearms. Players can unlock the BROD 3 carbine for aggressive close-quarters combat, the EF88 bullpup assault rifle for mid-range fights, and the VSSM marksman rifle. The VSSM features an integrated suppressor and subsonic ammo for stealthy, full-auto takedowns. You also gain access to two new attachments: a 4-inch Extended Barrel and the manually switchable 1P86 LPVO Sight.
Massive Gameplay Tweaks & AI Upgrades
Developers completely overhauled the water physics. Players can now drag and revive squadmates directly in the water. Furthermore, diving underwater completely disables enemy spotting and clears you from the minimap. Bullets also lose significant damage when traveling through water, eventually dealing zero damage at a distance.
AI bots received a much-needed intelligence upgrade. They now swim, drive boats to objectives, and abandon beached vessels. Previously, bots hoarded all boats at the start of a round. Thankfully, developers fixed this issue.
Meanwhile, core soldier movement feels tighter. Activating a slide now requires a higher sprint speed threshold. This prevents players from accidentally sliding while crouch-sprinting. Additionally, spawning on a crouched squadmate now automatically deploys you in a crouched stance.
Ranked Battle Royale Overhaul & M320A1 Nerfs
Ranked Battle Royale enters a new season centered around the Fort Lyndon marina, bringing a competitive leaderboard and permanent rewards. However, the heavy armor is officially gone. Developers completely removed Main Battle Tanks, Infantry Fighting Vehicles, and Vehicle Keycards from ranked play. APCs also lost their Emergency Repair ability, swapping it out for a Smoke Generator.
Additionally, the M320A1 took a brutal nerf. Its Level 3 Cluster Munitions trait now drops only three submunitions instead of six. Furthermore, the maximum blast damage dropped from 30 to 20, and the blast radius shrank. The development team also altered dispersion and bounce mechanics to prevent clustered explosions entirely.
PC players get a major performance boost with this update. Battlefield 6 now features full support for NVIDIA DLSS Multi Frame Generation (x5, x6) and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation.
Finally, Portal creators receive new SDK and Spatial Editor tools. They can now utilize the new ‘GetPlayer’ and ‘GetVehicle’ functions, alongside full access to Season 3 weapons and attachments to build custom gameplay modes.
