This upcoming release marks the third and final large-scale story DLC for the game. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt originally launched back in May 2015. Now, 11 years later, developers are still expanding its legendary universe. Furthermore, CD Projekt Red is currently co-developing this massive project with Fool’s Theory.
During a recent investor Q&A session, the studio confirmed the sheer scale of the expansion. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past will match the massive size of the Blood and Wine DLC. Consequently, players can expect around 40 hours of brand-new content.
Both studios are keeping strict secrecy regarding the actual plot. Neither developer has confirmed any gameplay mechanics or story details yet. However, fans are already decoding the official key art. The promotional poster distinctly shows Geralt holding Ciri’s silver sword. Because of this visual clue, popular theories suggest the new story will heavily explore Geralt and Ciri’s relationship.
Gamescom 2026 will soon bring the global gaming industry together in Cologne, Germany. Several major publishers have already locked in their physical attendance. Fans will definitely see major updates from Xbox, Nintendo, Capcom, Ubisoft, and CD Projekt Red.
Additionally, industry rumors suggest Capcom might reveal Resident Evil Veronica during Opening Night Live. However, Capcom has not officially confirmed this appearance yet.
