WhatsApp users on the web and Windows app can now open PDF files directly within chats without downloading them first, following a new feature rollout by Meta.
The update stems from a partnership between Meta and Adobe, integrating Adobe Acrobat support into WhatsApp Web and the Windows desktop application.
Through this collaboration, users will be able to view PDF documents within the chat interface itself, eliminating the need to save files locally before accessing them.
Beyond basic viewing, the feature also introduces editing tools such as highlighting and annotation, allowing users to mark up documents without leaving the app.
Meta confirmed that end-to-end encryption remains intact throughout, ensuring that shared files continue to be protected under the platforms existing security standards.
The company stated that the feature has now been rolled out globally to all WhatsApp Web and desktop app users.
