The federal government has announced that a one-minute silence will be observed across Pakistan at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, to mark Youm-e-Istehsaal and express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Monday, the decision was made on the directions of the Prime Minister. The nationwide observance is intended to reaffirm Pakistan’s support for the Kashmiri people and highlight their ongoing struggle.
The notification stated that the one-minute silence will be observed simultaneously across the country at 9:00 a.m. and directed that the announcement be given wide publicity through major English and Urdu newspapers as well as electronic media.
The directive has been circulated to all federal ministries, provincial governments, constitutional offices, law enforcement agencies, and other relevant departments to ensure uniform observance of the event.
Pakistan marks Youm-e-Istehsaal every year on August 5 to commemorate the anniversary of India’s 2019 decision to revoke the special constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir, while reaffirming diplomatic and political support for the Kashmiri people.
