The Punjab government has announced the application process for its ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ housing loan scheme, offering interest-free loans of up to Rs1 million to help low-income families repair, renovate, or expand their homes.
The initiative is aimed at improving housing conditions across the province by providing loans ranging from Rs500,000 to Rs1 million for home repairs, roof rehabilitation, and the construction of an additional floor.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the scheme, applicants must:
- Be a permanent resident of Punjab.
- Hold a valid NADRA-issued CNIC.
- Own a residential property measuring up to 5 marlas in urban areas or 10 marlas in rural areas.
- Be between 21 and 60 years of age.
- Have a clean financial record and must not be a defaulter of any bank or financial institution.
- Have no conviction in any serious criminal case.
The Punjab government said applicants’ identity and property details will be verified through NADRA and the Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA).
How to Apply
Eligible applicants can apply online by creating an account on the official Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar portal. After registering, they must select the appropriate loan category and upload the required documents, including:
- CNIC
- Property ownership document (Fard)
- Photographs of the existing house
To assist applicants, the government has also established facilitation desks at the offices of Deputy Commissioners (DCs), Assistant Commissioners (ACs), and regional authorities across Punjab, where citizens can receive guidance and submit their applications.
A dedicated toll-free helpline (0800-09100) has also been launched to provide further information and assistance regarding the scheme.
The provincial government says the initiative is part of its broader efforts to improve access to affordable housing and support low-income households across Punjab.
