The Government of Pakistan has reappointed Rehmat Ali Hasnie as President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) for a further two weeks, effective August 7, 2026.
A notification issued by the Finance Division on August 6, 2026, stated that the extension will remain in effect for two weeks or until a new President and CEO assumes office, whichever comes first.
Rehmat Ali Hasnie has served as President and CEO of National Bank of Pakistan since August 2023, bringing over 27 years of banking and financial expertise.
He holds a Master’s degree in Development Banking from the American University, USA, with extensive experience spanning economic research, investment banking, treasury, and capital markets.
Before becoming President and CEO, he led National Bank of Pakistan’s Investment Banking and Priority Sector Lending divisions, advancing agriculture finance, SME lending, and renewable initiatives.
As National Bank of Pakistan’s nominee, he has served on multiple corporate boards and chaired both First National Bank Modaraba and Pakistan Mortgage Refinance Company Limited.
He also serves on the Pakistan Banks Association Executive Committee and Institute of Bankers Pakistan Council, promoting financial inclusion, innovation, and sustainable economic development.
