Car sales in Pakistan, including light commercial vehicles (LCVs), vans and jeeps, surged 79.6% year-on-year to 19,818 units in July 2026, compared with 11,034 units sold in the same month last year, according to the latest data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA).
On a month-on-month basis, however, overall auto sales declined 12.9% from 22,741 units sold in June 2026.
The strong annual growth was primarily driven by a sharp increase in passenger car sales. Passenger vehicle sales rose 141.3% year-on-year to 17,216 units in July, compared with 7,135 units a year earlier.
Meanwhile, sales of LCVs, vans and jeeps declined 33.3% year-on-year to 2,602 units, compared with 3,899 units in July 2025.
Passenger Cars Lead Growth
The 1,300cc-and-above category recorded the highest passenger car sales during July, with 9,066 units sold.
Toyota’s Corolla, Yaris and Corolla Cross led the category with 4,283 units, followed by Honda’s Civic and City with 2,529 units and Suzuki Swift with 2,018 units. Hyundai Elantra recorded 211 units, while Hyundai Sonata posted 25 units.
The below-1,000cc category recorded the second-highest sales at 7,710 units. Suzuki Alto dominated the segment with 7,217 units, while Suzuki Every recorded 493 units.
The 1,000cc category registered 392 units, all attributed to Suzuki Cultus. Suzuki WagonR, which has been discontinued, recorded no sales during the month.
Electric Vehicle Sales Increase
Sales of the Dewan Honri-Ve electric vehicle reached 48 units in July 2026, doubling from 24 units recorded in July 2025.
Jeep and Pickup Sales
Within the jeeps and pickups segment, Toyota Fortuner and IMVs led sales with 806 units.
Haval and Tank, marketed by Sazgar, followed with 663 units, while JAC Pickup, marketed by Ghandhara, recorded 357 units. Hyundai Porter posted 286 units, followed by Hyundai Tucson with 171 units and Jetour United Motors with 133 units.
Honda BR-V and HR-V recorded combined sales of 111 units, while Isuzu D-Max sold 44 units. Hyundai Santa Fe and Dewan Kia Shehzore recorded 17 and 14 units, respectively.
New entrant Suzuki Fronx did not record any sales during July.
Production Also Rises
Automobile production also increased during the month. Total car production reached 21,668 units in July 2026, up 54.8% year-on-year from 13,998 units in July 2025.
Passenger car production increased 75.6% to 17,307 units, while production of LCVs, vans and jeeps rose 5.3% to 4,361 units.
Despite the month-on-month decline in overall sales, the strong year-on-year increase points to a significant recovery in Pakistan’s automobile market, particularly in the passenger car segment.
