Bahawalpur has expanded its public transport network with the arrival of 13 additional electric buses, taking the city’s total fleet to 35.
Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Malik Zaheer Iqbal Channar confirmed the arrival of the second batch on Wednesday, saying the new buses would strengthen the city’s electric bus service. He also claimed that Bahawalpur now has the largest electric bus fleet among Punjab’s major cities.
The expanded fleet is expected to introduce new bus routes and extend public transport services to more areas of the city. However, the routes have not yet been finalized.
Channar said the district administration would consult elected representatives before deciding where the additional buses would operate. Authorities are expected to announce the new routes after completing the consultations.
