The United States is seeking to deepen its trade and investment ties with Pakistan, with artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies identified as priority areas for cooperation, US Charge d’Affaires Natalie A Baker said during a visit to Lahore.
Baker said American innovation and private sector partnerships could help create jobs, expand economic opportunities and support shared prosperity between the two countries.
She noted that the United States has remained Pakistan’s largest export market and a leading source of investment for more than two decades, with bilateral trade exceeding $8 billion in 2025.
During her visit, Baker met Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and her adviser on artificial intelligence and special initiatives, Ali Dar, to discuss emerging technologies, higher education and innovation.
The talks also covered policies and partnerships aimed at encouraging investment, entrepreneurship and technological development in the province.
Baker visited the new Lahore outlet of American restaurant chain PF Changs, where she highlighted the potential for expanded commercial partnerships between the US and Pakistan.
She also toured US based technology firms NetSol Technologies, CodeNinja and Game District, reviewing Pakistans growing tech sector and discussing opportunities in software development, digital services and artificial intelligence.
At the National Institute of Technology, Baker met students and highlighted the institutes partnership with Arizona State University as an example of how American education expertise can benefit Pakistani students while strengthening bilateral ties.
At a separate roundtable, she pointed to US leadership in artificial intelligence and stressed the importance of trusted partnerships in converting technological innovation into economic growth, job creation and broader prosperity.
