The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has filed a petition with the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) seeking a one-month increase of Rs2.52 per unit in electricity tariffs.
According to media reports, the request has been submitted under the fuel price adjustment mechanism for July. NEPRA has scheduled a hearing on the petition for August 27.
As per the CPPA, electricity generated from diesel cost Rs50 per unit in July. Power produced using imported coal cost Rs54.47 per unit, while generation from LNG cost Rs47.37 per unit during the same month.
The regulator will review the fuel cost data and the proposed adjustment during the scheduled hearing before issuing a decision on the request.
