The government has appointed National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Chief Financial Officer Abdul Wahid Sethi as the acting President and Chief Executive Officer of the state-owned bank.
According to a notification issued on August 21, Sethi will oversee the bank’s affairs on an interim basis for three months or until a permanent President and CEO is appointed, whichever comes earlier.
The appointment has been made in accordance with the requirements of the Corporate Governance Regulatory Framework.
Sethi is regarded within banking circles as an experienced banking and finance professional, with colleagues highlighting his experience in handling complex financial and banking matters.
His appointment took effect immediately following the completion of Rehmat Ali Hasnie’s tenure as NBP President and CEO on August 21.
Sethi will continue to lead the bank until the government appoints a permanent head or the three-month interim period ends.
