Ubisoft just surprised the gaming world at Gamescom 2026. During Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live, Ubisoft officially revealed ‘Rainbow Six Tactics’. Fans can finally expect a brand-new take on the famous franchise. Ubisoft plans to launch this new title in 2027. Currently, the game appears to be a PC exclusive. Players can wishlist it right now on Steam and Ubisoft Connect PC.

Ubisoft Reveals Rainbow Six Tactics: XCOM Meets the Siege Universe
Interestingly, Rainbow Six Tactics completely abandons the traditional shooter genre. Instead, Ubisoft is delivering a single-player, turn-based tactical game. It heavily mirrors the popular XCOM formula. However, the game takes place entirely within the established Rainbow Six Siege universe. Consequently, developers are reusing familiar Siege operators rather than creating a new cast. You will command fan favorites like Ash, Doc, and Glaz. Each operator features specific stats. Moreover, you can equip them with various weapons and gear to complete global missions.
Mechanically, the game introduces several exciting combat features. First, it includes an overwatch mechanic. This allows your team to shoot enemies moving during their turn. Next, players enter a planning phase before striking. Here, you deploy drones to gather crucial intel. After that, you can execute synchronized breaches on walls or buildings. The game also supports fully destructible environments, much like Siege.
Meanwhile, between missions, you must manage a global HQ. You will build new facilities at your base. Additionally, you will train operators, upgrade their skills, and customize their loadouts.
Expanding a Decade-Old Legacy
Ultimately, this new direction makes perfect sense for the franchise. Rainbow Six Siege recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary. Despite its age, the multiplayer game remains highly active. In fact, Operation Split Fire launches on September 1, introducing a new operator named Noor.
Previously, Creative Director Alexander Karpazis and Game Director Joshua Mills hinted at a return to single-player experiences. Now, Tactics directly fulfills that demand. It allows Ubisoft to leverage highly profitable Siege characters in a fresh, single-player format instead of building a traditional campaign like Rainbow Six Vegas.
