Senate Secretariat has launched a dedicated mobile application aimed at digitizing the chamber’s legislative operations and moving toward a paperless Parliament.
The application was unveiled at a ceremony at Parliament House, with Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani attending as chief guest alongside Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja.
The app will give Senators direct access to legislative documents, the Order of the Day, bills, resolutions and committee reports on their smartphones and handheld devices.
It also provides Senate agendas, session schedules, a digital repository of legislative material, records of motions and committee proceedings, and real-time notifications on parliamentary business. Officials said the platform is designed to reduce reliance on printed paperwork and streamline legislative workflow.
Speaking at the launch, Khawaja described the initiative as a key part of Pakistan’s Digital Nation agenda, saying it reflected the government’s push toward transparent, technology-driven governance.
She said the project demonstrated sovereign design, indigenous capability and built-in accountability, adding that efficiency in the House amounted to democratic responsiveness rather than mere administrative convenience.
She praised the Senate Secretariat’s leadership for driving the initiative and said the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication would continue providing technical expertise, infrastructure and security frameworks to support similar projects across state institutions.
The Senate’s move follows similar digitization efforts already underway at the National Assembly and several provincial assemblies as part of Pakistan’s broader e-governance push.
As the government’s focal ministry for coordinating technology-driven reforms in public institutions, MOITT said it remains committed to supporting Parliament in rolling out and further developing the application.
