The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase of Rs0.52 per unit in electricity prices under the quarterly adjustment mechanism, adding an estimated Rs12.67 billion burden to consumers nationwide.
According to a notification issued by NEPRA, the additional charge will be collected from consumers through their electricity bills for September, October and November.
Lifeline consumers, who use minimal units of electricity, have been exempted from the increase. The revised rates will apply to all other consumer categories covered under the quarterly adjustment mechanism.
