Pakistan has established a dedicated pavilion at the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) 2026 in Beijing to promote trade, investment, and business opportunities among Pakistani and Chinese companies.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi inaugurated the pavilion on Wednesday and highlighted the government’s efforts to attract Chinese investment across 21 priority sectors.
According to the ambassador, the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing and its four consulates across China have organized six major business-to-business (B2B) investment conferences.
The conferences focused on sectors including agriculture, home appliances and electrical equipment, IT and telecom, battery energy storage, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and healthcare.
These initiatives have resulted in investment commitments of around $22 billion through more than 650 memoranda of understanding (MOUs).
However, Hashmi noted that only around 30% of the MOUs have progressed to formal agreements, contracts, factories, or plants. So far, approximately $7 billion worth of investment has been materialized.
The ambassador said Pakistan would now place greater emphasis on strengthening direct business-to-business links between companies in Pakistan and China.
He also announced that the Pakistan-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China was nearing formal establishment.
Meanwhile, work is underway to establish a Pakistan-China Commercial Center in Beijing’s Fengtai District. The proposed center is expected to help Pakistani businesses expand their presence in the Chinese market and strengthen commercial ties between the two countries.
More than 25 Pakistani companies are participating in CIFTIS 2026, representing sectors such as agriculture, energy, infrastructure, services, and healthcare.
Pakistan will also host a dedicated business conference on Friday on the sidelines of the fair. The event will bring Pakistani and Chinese companies together to explore new areas of cooperation and identify potential investment opportunities.
Hashmi said the Pakistan Pavilion would provide businesses from both countries with an opportunity to establish new connections and expand bilateral commercial relations.
He acknowledged that Pakistan had made progress in strengthening economic ties with China but said significant work remained. He emphasized the need for continued engagement between businesses and institutions in both countries to convert investment commitments into tangible projects.
