The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has rejected as baseless social media claims that the Rs10 banknote is being discontinued, clarifying that no decision has been made on withdrawing or replacing any currency denomination.
In an offical statement, the central bank said reports circulating online about a discontinuation date and exchange deadline for the Rs10 note have no factual basis.
SBP said it has submitted a proposal to introduce a new banknote series, which is currently under review by the Federal Cabinet, but stressed that the matter remains under deliberation and no final decision has been reached.
The bank said any decision on discontinuing or replacing a denomination would be formally announced through official channels, with sufficient time given to the public to exchange affected notes before they lose validity.
SBP urged citizens to disregard unverified claims spreading on social media and to rely solely on official statements for accurate information regarding currency and banknote policy.
