The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has launched SMEConnect, a centralized digital platform designed to simplify access to financing for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across Pakistan. Available at smeconnect.sbp.org.pk, the platform will allow businesses to apply for financing from banks and development finance institutions (DFIs) through a single online portal.
SMEConnect will enable applicants to track their loan applications in real time and view the reasons if their applications are rejected. The platform also features a live dashboard that will provide the SBP with real-time data on applications received, processed, approved, disbursed, and rejected, both at individual bank and industry-wide levels.
From November 1, 2026, all SME financing applications must be submitted exclusively through SMEConnect. Applicants visiting bank branches or websites to apply for financing will be directed to the portal. The SBP has instructed banks and DFIs to display the platform’s link prominently on their websites and ensure their staff can guide businesses through the application process. A tutorial video is also available on the portal.
The launch of SMEConnect is aimed at improving transparency and efficiency in SME financing while supporting financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, and inclusive economic growth.
