The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched the “Each One Teach One” policy, asking educated citizens to teach others in an effort to raise literacy and bring out-of-school children into the education system.
The Elementary and Secondary Education Department (E&SED) introduced the initiative through the joint efforts of Education Minister Arshad Ayub Khan, Secretary E&SED Muhammad Khalid, Director E&SED Jaffar Mansoor Abbasi and Elementary and Secondary Education Foundation (ESEF) Managing Director Qaiser Alam.
Education Minister Arshad Ayub Khan said the policy reflects collective responsibility under Article 25-A of the Constitution and will turn literacy from a government objective into a community-driven mission.
He added that the initiative will support efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 4 and urged educated citizens across the province to take part by teaching others.
Secretary E&SED Muhammad Khalid described the policy as an important community-driven initiative aimed at bringing every child to school and improving educational outcomes.
He said mobilising individuals to teach others will expand access to education and promote equity, while strengthening the department’s efforts to improve literacy and other education indicators.
The department has appealed to communities across the province to actively participate and contribute to achieving the province’s education and literacy goals.
