Islamabad authorities have decided to close 24 educational institutions from tomorrow in view of the security situation in the federal capital. All other schools and colleges in the city, apart from those on the list, will remain open as usual.
According to sources, police personnel have been accommodated in the 24 institutions, and teaching activities there have been suspended as a result.
The closed institutions include several schools in Sectors G-6, F-6, F-7 and G-7. Specific institutions in Tarnol, Sanjani, Sohala and Rawal Dam will also remain shut from tomorrow.
Yesterday, more than 15,000 police personnel from districts across Punjab arrived in Rawalpindi ahead of a planned protest by political parties, officials said.
The police were accommodated in 48 educational institutions across the district, including 21 in Rawalpindi city, 10 in Taxila, five in Gujar Khan and others.
The first contingents were deployed to establish security arrangements, while authorities were expected to decide whether to suspend classes and announce holidays at affected institutions.
