Vivo has launched the X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max in China. Alongside the new phones, the company unveiled OriginOS 7, its latest Android-based software. OriginOS 7 is built on Android 17 and focuses on making everyday phone use feel smoother. Vivo says the system is designed to maintain its performance even after six years of daily use.
The new Origin Smooth Engine brings a major redesign to the system architecture. It improves graphics processing, memory management, and system scheduling across the software.
Vivo has also introduced Ultra-Core Computing with OriginOS 7. The feature dynamically assigns processing power based on current demand. This is designed to keep the system responsive during heavy workloads.
According to vivo, OriginOS 7 delivers a 10% faster app cold start than its predecessor. App page switching is also 11% faster compared with the previous version. Memory Fusion has also been improved in OriginOS 7. vivo says memory allocation and reclamation are now much more efficient. The system can reclaim 60% more memory and free up to 25GB on a 256GB device.
The new rendering pipeline also improves graphics performance. Vivo claims rendering efficiency has increased by 14.4% with OriginOS 7. The interface has received several visual changes as well. vivo says every swipe, tap, and transition follows natural physics principles. Fluid Motion adds liquid-style effects that react to finger movement.
These effects allow interface elements to stretch, bounce, and merge based on touch direction and speed. The result is a more dynamic feel across everyday interactions. OriginOS 7 also expands connectivity with Apple’s devices. Users can pair an Apple Watch with compatible Vivo phones and receive notifications on the phone.
The system can also sync essential workout and health data with the Origin Health app. AirPods battery levels can appear in Origin Island, while Spatial Audio is also supported. Vivo Office Kit continues to support iPad, macOS, and Windows devices. It lets users connect their phones with other devices for a more integrated workflow.
Files stored in iCloud can also be accessed through Vivo File Manager. This gives users another way to manage content across their connected devices. Jovi, Vivo’s cross-device personal agent, is also integrated into OriginOS 7 and Office Kit. It can coordinate tasks between connected phones and computers.
Jovi also supports scheduled tasks across connected devices. vivo says every autonomous action is explicitly recorded and remains transparent to users. Key actions also require direct user authorization. This gives users control over tasks performed by the personal agent.
OriginOS 7 introduces several new customization features too. Wiggle Theme turns photos into interactive liquid surfaces that ripple, compress, and rebound when touched. Glint Theme uses the phone’s gyroscope to create realistic lighting and shadows. These effects change as the device is tilted.
StickIt adds another option for lock screen customization. It lets users create layered, dynamic collages using photos and Live Photos. These collages can appear on the lock screen, home screen, and Always-On Display. Pet Pals also adds interactive pets to the interface.
The virtual pets respond to device movement, charging status, and music playback. They can also change based on the progression from day to night. OriginOS 7 will be available through a Preview Program starting today. The program is essentially an open beta for the software. The preview will be available for the vivo X300 Pro and select iQOO devices. It will initially launch in India, Thailand, and Malaysia.
