Motorola has given us an early look at the upcoming Signature 27, revealing several key details about its next flagship. The phone was shown during Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit keynote. The Signature 27 is among the first smartphones powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. It will also be the second device in Motorola’s Signature series.
Motorola is changing the naming system with this generation. The company will now use the final two digits of the launch year. That is why the upcoming flagship is called the Signature 27. The phone will use Motorola’s ArcticMesh cooling system to manage heat from the new chipset. Its vapor chamber is 40 percent larger than the one used in the previous generation.
For cameras, the Signature 27 will feature a 50MP Sony LYT 910 primary sensor. It will support 3.5 degree OIS for improved image stability. A 200MP periscope telephoto camera will also be included. Motorola has not yet shared details about the phone’s other cameras. More camera specifications are expected closer to the official launch.
The Signature 27 also marks the first product from Motorola’s new partnership with Bang & Olufsen. The phone will feature “Audio by B&O” as part of the collaboration. Motorola will offer the Signature 27 in Pantone Coal Smoke and Pantone Capulet Olive. Both versions will have a textured finish on the rear panel.
The company has also confirmed seven years of OS updates for the flagship. This gives the Signature 27 a longer software support period than many Android phones. The Motorola Signature 27 will launch globally later this year. Motorola is expected to announce its exact release date, full specifications, and pricing soon.
