Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) increased by $11 million during the week ended September 18, 2026, reaching $21.4 billion.
According to the SBP, its reserves stood at $21.389 billion a week earlier. The latest increase takes the central bank’s reserves to their reported level of $21.4 billion.
The country’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves also rose to $26.811 billion as of September 18, up $19 million from the previous week. Of the total, $21.4 billion was held by the SBP, while commercial banks held $5.41 billion.
Foreign exchange reserves maintained by commercial banks increased by $8 million during the week.
According to the latest figures, Pakistan’s available foreign exchange reserves are sufficient to cover around 3.5 months of imports. The improvement in reserves provides additional foreign exchange coverage for the country’s external payment requirements.
