The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has invited applications for the position of Director General (Telecom Wireless) in MP-II scale, with the selected official to oversee key areas including wireless policy, spectrum management, broadband, satellite communications and emerging telecom technologies.
The appointment will initially be made for three years and may be extended for another two years on a year-to-year basis. The maximum age limit is 62 years as of the application deadline.
Applicants must hold a PhD in electrical, electronics, computer systems, telecommunication engineering, engineering management or a related discipline, along with at least five years of relevant experience. Candidates with a relevant master’s degree can also apply if they have at least seven years of professional experience.
The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and reviewing telecom policies, managing spectrum-related matters, assessing emerging technologies and advising senior government forums and regulatory bodies. The role will also involve overseeing projects aimed at expanding broadband and connectivity in underserved areas.
The DG will represent Pakistan at national and international telecom forums and maintain coordination with industry stakeholders. The position will also involve responsibilities related to public-sector procurement and compliance with government procurement rules.
The appointment will follow the prescribed procedure for MP-II positions. A shortlisting committee will identify candidates, while the Selection Committee will recommend three candidates for the final appointment of one candidate with the approval of the Prime Minister.
The selected official will receive the MP-II pay package under the MP Scale Policy, 2020. Serving government employees will require a no-objection certificate to participate in the selection process.
