Konami and Screen Burn recently launched Silent Hill: Townfall for PC and PlayStation 5. The game introduces a fresh first-person perspective to the popular horror series. Players control protagonist Simon Ordell. He must survive terrifying threats in the fictional Scottish fishing town of St. Amelia in 1996. However, fans quickly discovered a massive problem with the gameplay. Consequently, Screen Burn recently promised an upcoming Silent Hill: Townfall update to fix the issue.
The Problem With ‘The Weight’ & Silent Hill: Townfall Update
The game features a virtually unkillable enemy called “The Weight”. This monster constantly chases Simon. Furthermore, it can kill the player in a single hit. Consequently, players must hide from the creature instead of fighting it.
Things get worse when players die. Players can use an IV Bag to revive Simon immediately. This item saves them from reloading a previous save. However, a frustrating bug occurs here. The Weight often stays in the exact spot where the player died. Therefore, the monster instantly kills Simon again upon revival. Ultimately, this glitch drains precious resources and deeply frustrates players.
Fortunately, developer Screen Burn heard the complaints. The studio addressed the issue on social media recently. They promised that gameplay balancing for The Weight is arriving “ASAP”. The developer did not provide an exact release window. Still, players hope the balance update drops soon.
We have released a patch on PC (Steam + Epic – v1.3.1) that significantly improves stuttering caused by PSO Compilation issues. More improvements coming soon.

Performance Patches & AMD GPU Crashes
Meanwhile, Screen Burn is also tackling PC performance issues. Yesterday, the developer released a patch (v1.3.1 for PC / Patch 1.3.3) for Steam and the Epic Games Store. This update significantly improves gameplay stuttering caused by PSO compilation issues.
Additionally, PC players reported continuous game crashes. Screen Burn confirmed that these crashes relate to certain AMD GPUs. Currently, the developer is working directly with AMD to find a permanent solution. In the meantime, Screen Burn advises players to turn off ray tracing to avoid crashes.
Despite these early launch bugs, general reviews suggest Silent Hill: Townfall is receiving praise. Overall, the game currently meets Konami’s high expectations for the legendary franchise.
