PlayStation owners must wait a bit longer for this year’s highest-rated racing game. Recently, a massive leak surfaced regarding the highly anticipated PS5 release of Forza Horizon 6. While Microsoft initially promised a 2026 release for Sony’s current-gen system, new information points to a delay.
Forza Horizon 6 PS5 Port Release Most Probably Delayed
According to a credible insider, Forza Horizon 6 will hit the PS5 on January 26, 2027. This leak directly corroborates a previous report by Tom Warren of The Verge. Warren claimed developers pushed the port into 2027 to coincide with a major expansion ahead of the game’s first anniversary in May. Currently, neither Microsoft nor developer Playground Games have publicly addressed the release date.
I’m not expecting to see Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 in 2026

Despite launching as a timed exclusive for PC and Xbox Series X/S back in January, the game dominated the charts during its May release. Critics heavily praised its incredible graphics and tight racing mechanics. Consequently, the game currently holds a 91 on OpenCritic alongside a staggering 99% critic recommendation rating.
The Physical Disc Advantage
Beyond the release date, the leak highlights a major win for physical media collectors. Billbil-kun states the PS5 version will feature a physical release with the game fully installed on the disc.
This directly contrasts with the Xbox Series X physical edition. Standard Xbox game discs max out at 50GB of data. Because Forza Horizon 6 demands 145 GB of available storage space, the Xbox physical copies did not ship entirely on disc. Conversely, most PS5 Blu-Ray discs can hold up to 100GB. Therefore, Sony’s hardware makes it much easier for developers to ship complete physical releases. Some developers remain adamant about supporting physical copies, even as PlayStation faces criticism for winding down physical game production overall.
A Packed January Launch Window
If this leaked January arrival proves accurate, Forza Horizon 6 faces steep competition. The first month of 2027 already features a loaded slate of major third-party releases. Highly anticipated titles like ‘Final Fantasy 14: Evercold’ and ‘Stranger Than Heaven’ will also arrive on the PS5 in January.
Currently, it remains unclear if Playground Games will offer early access or a Premium Edition bundle for PS5 users. Regardless, PlayStation fans will have plenty to play while they wait to see how Forza Horizon 6 stands out in a crowded market.
