Playground Games offers three distinct pre-order tiers for PlayStation gamers. First, the Standard Edition includes the base game and a Pre-Tuned Ferrari J50 as a pre-order bonus. Next, the Deluxe Edition packs the game, the Ferrari, a Welcome Pack, and a Car Pass.
Finally, the Premium Edition delivers the ultimate package. This top tier features everything mentioned previously. Plus, it adds a VIP Membership, the five days of early access, access to both upcoming Expansions, the Time Attack Car Pack, and the Italian Passion Car Pack. Current Xbox and PC players can also purchase this as a Premium Upgrade.
Expansions & Free Updates
Alongside the PS5 debut, the first Forza Horizon 6 expansion will launch across all platforms on January 21, 2027. Consequently, PS5 Premium Edition owners will play the expansion on Day One. Additionally, a free content update will arrive for everyone on January 26.
However, Playground Games remains tight-lipped about the exact details of this update. Moreover, one major question remains entirely unanswered. Right now, nobody knows how or if PlayStation players will catch up on the seasonal content and cars that Xbox and PC players have enjoyed since May.
Studio Restructuring & Community Backlash
This major announcement drops during a chaotic period for Xbox Game Studios. Recently, Microsoft executed massive layoffs and reorganized its first-party studios. As a result, Turn 10 formally merged with Playground Games. Both studios already collaborated heavily on the ‘Motorsport’ and ‘Horizon’ franchises. Therefore, this merger officially aligns the teams to build future games together.
Meanwhile, Playground Games has faced growing community backlash. Recently, players expressed heavy frustration over the developer’s lack of communication regarding seasonal updates. In response, the official social media account addressed the situation directly. They acknowledged their silence but insisted they are listening to player feedback. Ultimately, this PS5 announcement and expansion reveal serve as a proactive step to win back community trust.
