The Embassy of Pakistan in Doha, Qatar, will start issuing e-passports from October 15, replacing Machine Readable Passports (MRPs) at its consular services.
From that date, the embassy and other Pakistani diplomatic missions will no longer accept or process MRP applications. All new passport applications will be handled under the e-passport system.
The e-passport is a biometric travel document that meets international standards and carries advanced security features intended to make international travel more secure and efficient.
The embassy confirmed that MRPs issued before October 15 will remain valid. They can be used under existing rules and regulations until their expiry dates.
