YouTube is rolling out a new artificial intelligence (AI) feature called Ask YouTube on mobile devices, making it easier for users to find videos they watched years ago, even when they remember only vague details.
The feature allows users to search for videos by entering a question, describing a topic or providing a general idea instead of relying on exact keywords. YouTube then looks for content that matches the user’s description.
Users can also refine search results through follow-up questions or additional instructions if the initial results do not match what they are looking for. Although the feature may not deliver completely accurate results every time, it is expected to make finding older videos more convenient.
According to the announcement, Ask YouTube was already available to desktop users and is now being introduced on mobile devices. The feature aims to simplify searches for videos that users remember only partially.
Another useful option is voice input, which allows users to give commands without typing. This could make it easier to search for old videos while using a mobile phone.
The AI-powered feature reflects YouTube’s efforts to improve its search experience by helping users discover content based on natural language queries rather than exact titles or keywords.
