Apple’s first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, is already facing major shipping delays just hours after pre-orders opened. The company’s online store now lists January 22 as the shipping date in several major markets.
Apple originally planned to begin shipping the iPhone Duo on October 23, following a week of pre-orders. However, limited stock means many buyers will have to wait months to receive their devices.
We checked Apple’s online stores in the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, India, Australia, New Zealand, and China. All nine markets showed the same January 22 shipping date. Changing the phone’s color or storage option did not improve the estimated delivery time.
Even the more expensive 1TB and 2TB models showed no clear advantage. Buyers often choose cheaper storage options, which can leave premium versions available for longer. However, the delays across configurations suggest that Apple has limited stock overall.
Customers can still check their local Apple stores for available units. Apple’s website currently advises customers to check back for pickup availability on October 24. Third-party retailers may also have stock beyond the units reserved for Apple’s own stores.
The delays also support analyst Jeff Pu’s earlier prediction that the iPhone Duo would be difficult to buy this year. Last month, Pu said limited production would restrict availability. Apple is now expected to produce just 6 million units this year, down from its initial target of 7 million.
For comparison, Apple is expected to sell a combined 72 million iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max units by the end of this year. The much lower production target for the Duo highlights the supply constraints facing the company’s first foldable phone.
The first wave of iPhone Duo pre-orders covers more than 70 countries and regions. These include Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Turkey, the UAE, the UK, the US, and Vietnam.
Although we have not checked every market, the widespread shipping delays suggest that finding an available unit could be difficult. Buyers may still find stock at local Apple stores or third-party retailers, but availability remains uncertain.
