Bungie is officially throwing Destiny 2 a massive lifeline. Initially, fans believed live-service updates would end after June’s Monument of Triumph patch. Now, Bungie and Sony are actively resurrecting the game. Studio Head Poria Torkan and General Manager Josh Deane recently confirmed plans to breathe new life into the beloved looter-shooter.

Bungie is systematically unvaulting all previously removed content. Best of all, players will experience it entirely for free. This massive update includes the Red War campaign, Curse of Osiris, and Warmind. Furthermore, vaulted locations like Io and Titan are returning to the map. Bungie admits this restoration process will take significant time. However, the studio remains fully committed to delivering on its promises. Additionally, developers recently rolled out a patch to streamline fixes for persistent backend issues.
Bungie is Actively Hiring for Destiny 2
Following a massive round of layoffs cutting 400 positions, Bungie is officially hiring again. A new listing for a remote Senior UX Designer (CONTRACT) recently surfaced in the United States. Specifically, the role carries the title of Interaction Designer (Contract). The job description explicitly tasks the new hire with designing amazing player interactions within Destiny 2.
Furthermore, the core responsibilities emphasize utilizing UX design methodologies to communicate and validate the player experience. The new designer will run player interviews, create flow diagrams, conduct playtesting, and build high-fidelity mockups. They will also establish and document strategies and guidelines for the team. Consequently, this concrete hiring move proves Bungie is actively working to deliver on its new promises.
A Destiny 1 Remaster Approaches
While a fully-fledged Destiny 3 remains unconfirmed, smaller projects are gaining traction. A fan petition for a third game recently surpassed 410,000 signatures. Despite this, Bungie has not greenlit a sequel. Instead, the studio is playing it safe with its current resources. Last week, Deane officially teased a Destiny 1 remaster. Excitingly, this upcoming release will finally deliver a highly requested PC port.
