The federal government has called for the inclusion of digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness in school, college and university curricula to help protect children and young people from online threats.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar made the remarks on Thursday while addressing the closing ceremony of Cybersecurity Awareness Week. He said Pakistan needs a stronger regulatory framework and updated policies to address risks arising from rapidly evolving technology.
Tarar emphasized that digital education should cover fake news, cyberattacks and online safety, enabling students to identify digital threats and protect themselves while using online platforms. He also called for changes to educational curricula to reflect the growing importance of cybersecurity and digital skills.
The minister urged the government to work with relevant stakeholders, organize meetings and conduct training sessions to raise public awareness. He stressed that cybersecurity education should reach people across the country and that young people should be encouraged to contribute to a safer digital environment.
