Rawalpindi has launched its first drive-through vehicle emission testing station on GT Road near Ayub Park, allowing private vehicle owners to check smoke emissions and obtain fitness certificates.
The facility began operations on November 2, 2026, under the Punjab Vehicle Inspection and Certification System (PVICS). Motorists can drive through the station and get their vehicles tested without leaving them.
The new facility is part of the Punjab government’s efforts to control air pollution and reduce vehicular emissions, particularly amid growing concerns over smog.
Under the expanded vehicle inspection system, private vehicles are also required to undergo emission testing and obtain fitness certificates to ensure compliance with prescribed environmental standards.
Private vehicle owners in Rawalpindi can visit the new station on GT Road near Ayub Park for emission testing and certification.
