Adobe Temporarily Disables Selfie Camera in Project Indigo for iPhone 17 Users

Adobe’s computational photography app, Project Indigo, has hit a snag with Apple’s latest iPhone 17 series. The company has temporarily disabled the selfie camera feature after facing compatibility issues with the new square-format front sensor.

For several weeks, the app failed to function properly on iPhone 17 models, leaving users unable to access its signature image-processing tools. Adobe confirmed it had been working behind the scenes to restore functionality and shared occasional updates on its community forums. However, to meet user demand and release a stable update, the company decided to roll out partial support, limiting Project Indigo to the rear camera for now.

Project Indigo, launched in June, quickly gained a following for its softer, more natural image processing compared to Apple’s built-in camera app. But the redesigned sensors in the iPhone 17 lineup disrupted the app’s ability to handle selfies, forcing Adobe to delay full compatibility.

A fix is already in motion. Once Apple releases iOS 26.1, Adobe plans to re-enable the front-facing camera support. Until then, iPhone 17 users will only be able to use Project Indigo with their rear cameras.
