Capcom just announced a brand-new way to experience a classic survival-horror masterpiece. During the latest Capcom Spotlight, the company revealed Resident Evil 2: Arcade. Developed in collaboration with Bandai Namco, this new title transforms the highly praised 2019 Resident Evil 2 remake into an intense light-gun, on-rails shooter.

What to Expect from Resident Evil 2: Arcade
Players will tackle the undead in co-op mode as iconic characters Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. The physical arcade cabinet heavily prioritizes immersion. It features unique hardware upgrades like “floor jets” and “floor vibration technology”.
Playtesting officially begins in Japan this month, March 2026. However, Capcom has not confirmed any international availability or future console ports. Gameplay closely resembles the 2000s Nintendo Wii title, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles.
Universal Studios & Anniversary Celebrations
The Capcom Spotlight event also delivered several other franchise updates. Capcom announced a real-world Resident Evil: Requiem experience coming to Universal Studios Japan. Furthermore, the company detailed upcoming 30th-anniversary concerts to celebrate the franchise’s milestone on March 22.
Gamers can currently purchase a limited-time “Generation Pack” bundle. This collection includes Resident Evil 7, Village, and the newly released Requiem. The recently launched Resident Evil Requiem heavily banks on nostalgia, bringing Leon S. Kennedy and Sherry Birkin back to the infamous Raccoon City Police Department.
Despite these announcements, the showcase noticeably skipped a previously teased project involving the character Sheva Alomar.
Massive Leaks Detail Future Releases
Capcom stayed relatively quiet regarding future mainline titles. Consequently, leakers quickly filled the void with a massive release timeline.
According to recent rumors, fans can expect a Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake to launch in 2027. Next, a Resident Evil Zero remake will reportedly follow in 2028. Finally, the highly anticipated Resident Evil 10 drops in 2029. Additionally, leakers believe a full remake of the original Resident Evil 1 is currently in development. Fans must wait for official confirmation from Capcom before celebrating these distant releases.
