Respawn Entertainment suddenly yanked Storm Point from the Apex Legends map rotation on April 3. The studio removed the map from both Pubs and Ranked modes less than two weeks after reintroducing it for Season 28 Split 2. Severe crashes on specific devices forced the developers to pull the plug. Currently, Respawn has no concrete timeline for a permanent fix, leaving the map shelved indefinitely.
Consequently, E-District (daytime) immediately replaced Storm Point in the queue. The current Split 2 map pool now features World’s Edge, Olympus, and E-District.
We are temporarily removing Storm Point from map rotation on all modes and will be replacing it with E-District (daytime) while we continue to chase a permanent fix for a crash occurring on specific devices when Storm Point is active. We will provide more updates on this matter…

Unsurprisingly, this sudden swap generated mixed reactions from the community. Players desperately want game stability. However, many feel frustrated because they are now playing nearly the same map pool as Split 1. Furthermore, several fans openly questioned why developers ignored Kings Canyon in favor of E-District.
Apex Legends Split 2 Buffs & Aftershock Event
Beyond the map drama, the Split 2 update delivered substantial gameplay changes. Developers significantly buffed Wraith, Gibraltar, and Wattson. These targeted upgrades aim to make these classic legends much more viable in Ranked play.
Meanwhile, the Aftershock Event is officially live in Apex Legends. It introduces a massive Titanfall 2-inspired mechanic to the Wildcard Mode. Players can now equip a Vortex Shield to catch incoming enemy bullets and throw them right back. Additionally, players can unlock new event cosmetics, heavily featuring the Apex Inferno Prestige Skin for Fuse.
Finally, Respawn briefly reactivated the April Fools LTM for players who missed the initial rollout, though that limited-time window officially concluded yesterday, April 6.
