A fresh supply chain report suggests Apple is preparing a major display upgrade for its next premium iPhones. According to the report, the company plans to use advanced LTPO+ OLED panels in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
The new LTPO+ displays are expected to improve power efficiency. At the same time, they could allow Apple to move the Face ID infrared scanner behind the screen. Sources familiar with the plan also believe Apple may hide the selfie camera under the display. The goal is to achieve this without reducing image quality.
This shift could change Apple’s display supplier lineup for its Pro models. Only LG and Samsung currently produce LTPO+ OLED panels at scale. As a result, BOE may no longer supply screens for the Pro versions. However, BOE could still make panels for the non-Pro iPhone 18 models.
The report also points to a wider rollout of LTPO+ technology across Apple’s products. Apple is said to be planning these panels for its redesigned M6 MacBook Pro as well. That would signal a broader push toward thinner designs and better power management.
