Apple May Follow Oppo and Vivo With New Camera Feature in iPhone 18 Pro

Published by

Telephoto camera accessories are becoming popular among Chinese smartphone brands. Oppo and Vivo already sell dedicated teleconverters for their flagship devices. Now, Apple may be considering a similar move for its next premium phones.

A new rumor claims Apple is evaluating a teleconverter accessory for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Both models are expected to launch later this year. The report says Apple has not made a final decision yet. Still, the fact that the company is exploring the idea stands out.

Apple usually takes its time with new hardware trends. It rarely rushes to adopt features first introduced by rivals. Instead, the company often waits until the technology becomes more refined. Later, it presents the feature as a polished addition to the iPhone lineup.

The teleconverter trend reflects that pattern. Chinese brands have already pushed external lens accessories to improve optical zoom. If Apple moves forward, it would mark its entry into this growing niche. However, for now, the accessory remains under evaluation.

Meanwhile, another feature continues to surface in leaks. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are once again rumored to feature a variable aperture main camera. Several Android brands introduced variable aperture cameras years ago. Even so, Apple may bring its own version to the Pro lineup.

Variable aperture allows the camera to adjust how much light enters the lens. As a result, users can capture better photos in different lighting conditions. It also offers more control over depth and sharpness. Design changes, however, may stay limited. Reports suggest the iPhone 18 Pro models will look very similar to their predecessors.
