Apple Partners with Google Gemini for Upcoming Siri Upgrade

Apple has chosen Google’s Gemini to run its redesigned Siri, confirming months of market rumors. The deal marks a multi-year partnership that links Apple’s AI future to Google’s cloud and models.

A statement obtained by a source says Apple will rely on Google’s Gemini models and cloud technology for future Apple foundational models. This move gives Apple access to one of the most advanced AI systems on the market.

After careful evaluation, we determined that Google’s technology provides the most capable foundation for Apple Foundation Models, and we’re excited about the innovative new experiences it will unlock for our users, Apple said.

The announcement lifted shares of both Apple and Google as investors welcomed the alliance. It also adds pressure on Apple to deliver, since the new AI-powered Siri has missed several timelines.

Last March, Apple admitted to one delay and said the new Siri would arrive in the coming year. That period will end in about two months, yet Apple has still not shared a clear launch date.

So far, there is no official word on when users will see the revamped Siri. Still, the Gemini deal shows Apple is betting on outside AI to speed up its plans.
