Apple sued for lying about the iPhone X screen size

In a shocking news, a class action lawsuit was launched on Friday, filed by plaintiffs which accused Apple of making false and fraudulent claims regarding the size and pixel count of its OLED displays which were featured in the expensive iPhone X, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max model.

The lawsuit claimed that during the marketing and advertisement of the iPhone X, Apple lied about the screen sizes as it also included the non-screen parts like the notch and corners. Also, the punchline used by the Apple marketing company “all screen” isn’t technically true according to the 55-page complaint. For instance, Apple marketed iPhone X to have a 5.8-inch screen but on measuring it was found out that the phone, in fact, had a “5.6875-inch screen”.

According to the statement in the filing report:

“Defendant’s nominal screen pixel resolution counts misleadingly count false pixels as if they were true pixels. This is in contrast to every other iPhone — phones whose screens Defendant directly compares to the iPhone X screen in its effort to mislead consumers into believing that the iPhone X has more pixels (and better screen resolution) than it really does.”

The case further alleges that the iPhone X had a lower screen resolution than the advertised and marketed resolution of 2436×1125 pixels. According to the details of the case, the phone does not hold true red, green and blue subpixels in each pixel. In fact, the iPhone X only has two subpixels per pixel which are less than the marketed resolution.

Apple has a history of such lawsuits in recent past, in fact in recent past Apple was sued for throttling down older iPhones, using butterfly keyboards(which stopped working once dust entered the keys) for its MacBooks and in June Apple was hit by another lawsuit due to the fragile screen of the Apple watch which had a tendency to “crack, shatter or detach from the body of the watch.”
