Apple foldable iPhone

Apple may still be waiting to join the foldable phone race, but new reports hint that its entry could finally happen soon. According to recent leaks, the company plans to unveil its first foldable iPhone, possibly called the iPhone Fold, by late 2026. Following that, Apple is reportedly preparing two more major design shifts in 2027 and 2028.

The iPhone Fold is expected to feature a book-style design with an LTPO+ flexible OLED panel, roughly matching the size of an iPad mini. To reduce display wrinkles, Apple will likely use a glass mid-frame structure. This would mark a new era for the company’s design language, blending durability with innovation.

In 2027, Apple could launch a bezel-free iPhone that adopts four-edge bending OLED technology. The device is rumored to include a ‘Crater diffusion layer’ to fix brightness uniformity issues and an under-display Face ID system. Interestingly, this model would coincide with the 20th anniversary of the iPhone, suggesting Apple may celebrate the milestone with a completely fresh design.

According to the source, Apple will introduce a clamshell foldable in 2028. Tentatively dubbed the iPhone Flip, it might feature a minimal outer display showing basic information, AI-powered shortcuts, and notifications. The phone is said to have curved edges and a lightweight body, making it a compact alternative to the larger foldable models.
