Apple may soon expand its Mac lineup with a more affordable option. A new report from Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reveals fresh details about a rumored entry-level MacBook. This model could bring Apple’s laptop experience to a wider audience without crossing the $1,000 mark.
According to the source, Apple plans to unveil the new MacBook in March. The company aims to price it under $1,000, making it one of the most affordable Macs in years. Even at this lower price, Apple is not expected to cut corners on quality.
The laptop will reportedly run on Apple’s A18 Pro chip. This is the same class of chip used in high-end devices. As a result, users can expect solid performance for daily tasks and creative work. The device will also feature an LCD instead of a mini-LED or OLED panel. That decision likely helps Apple manage costs while keeping performance steady.
Internally, the project carries the codename J700. Gurman says the laptop will use an aluminum chassis. Apple will produce the shell using a new manufacturing process. This process is faster and more cost-effective. However, the company still plans to maintain its premium build standards.
In addition, Apple wants the device to stand out visually. The company has tested several color finishes, including blue, silver, dark grey, light green, pink, and light yellow. Still, only a few of these colors will likely reach the final product stage. By offering more color choices, Apple hopes to attract younger buyers and students.
