Ubisoft is shaking up the high seas. Assassin’s Creed (AC) Black Flag Resynced introduces a massive change to aquatic exploration. You no longer need to rely on specific spots to explore underwater. Technical director Jussi Markkanen confirmed this exciting shift in a recent interview. Consequently, players can now dive anywhere they want to hunt for hidden treasure.
AC Black Flag Resynced Free Diving Unlocks New Secrets
The original 2013 release restricted underwater exploration. You could only dive using designated diving bells. Now, the development team has completely opened up the ocean. Traditional diving bells remain in the game for those who prefer them. However, unrestricted free diving is the real game-changer here.
Because of this newfound freedom, Ubisoft Singapore added entirely new shipwrecks to the map. You will find some of these fresh wrecks right near the shorelines. Furthermore, the developers scattered brand-new secrets across the ocean floor. This gives you plenty of reasons to jump off the Jackdaw and explore the deep blue.
Gameplay Fixes & Hardware Upgrades
Beyond the ocean, Ubisoft overhauled some of the original game’s most frustrating elements. Instant-fail stealth and tailing missions are gone. Now, if enemies spot you, you can recover and continue the mission freely. Additionally, the parkour system uses all the modern upgrades originally built for Assassin’s Creed (AC) Shadows.
As we [insert backlink: covered previously], the game runs on the powerful Anvil Engine. This switch brings massive visual overhauls and revamped combat. Furthermore, the game is officially Steam Deck verified. PlayStation 5 Pro owners also get massive graphical boosts. The PS5 Pro version runs at 2160p resolution using enhanced PSSR. Moreover, it features extended ray tracing and “strand-based” hair for Edward Kenway across all modes, which also applies to crowds in Fidelity mode.
Expanded Lore & Base Management
The world of AC Black Flag Resynced is also getting much bigger. You can now recruit three additional members for the Jackdaw. Furthermore, the Great Inagua Hideout system features several new updates.
Ubisoft also expanded the story missions for fan-favorite characters like Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet. Finally, as we detailed earlier, original writer Darby McDevitt returned to craft a brand-new ending chapter for the game.
