Auto financing in Pakistan reached a record Rs. 386 billion in July 2026, marking a 35.2% increase from Rs. 286 billion recorded in the same month last year, according to the latest data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The latest figure represents the highest level of auto loans recorded in the country, surpassing the previous record of Rs. 382 billion reported in June 2026. On a month-on-month basis, auto financing increased by 1.2% during July 2026.
The continued rise in auto loans indicates stronger demand for vehicle financing as consumers increasingly rely on bank financing for vehicle purchases.
The record level also comes as Pakistan’s banking sector continues to expand lending to the private sector.
Loans extended to the private sector increased by 15% year-on-year to Rs. 10.9 trillion in July 2026, compared with Rs. 9.5 trillion during the same period last year.
The increase reflects broader growth in credit demand across different segments of the economy.
Bank financing for home construction also recorded significant growth during July.
Loans for home construction rose 37.2% year-on-year to Rs. 286 billion in July 2026, compared with Rs. 263 billion in July 2025.
The increase highlights continued expansion in household borrowing beyond vehicle financing.
Credit card borrowing also recorded strong growth during the month. Credit card loans increased 30.5% year-on-year to Rs. 212 billion, compared with Rs. 163 billion a year earlier.
The latest figures show that consumer and private-sector borrowing continued to expand in July, with auto financing reaching a historic high alongside strong growth in home construction and credit card loans.
