The State Bank of Pakistan has announced that all banks across the country will remain closed for public dealing on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, in observance of the annual bank holiday marking the start of the new fiscal year.
According to an official circular issued by the central bank, the holiday will apply to all commercial banks, development finance institutions (DFIs), and microfinance banks (MFBs).
The SBP clarified that while all financial institutions will remain closed for public transactions, employees of banks, DFIs, and MFBs will still attend office as usual.
The bank holiday is observed annually to facilitate the closing of accounts and the transition into the new fiscal year in Pakistan’s financial system.
